I want Leicester City striker Jeff Schlupp on loan, says Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson
Sheffield United manager Danny Wilson is interested in taking Leicester City striker Jeff Schlupp on loan.
The Blades boss said he had not yet approached City about taking the 19-year-old on a temporary basis but would be interested if Nigel Pearson decided a loan spell would be best for the Ghana international.

"We would be interested," said Wilson.
"We've kept tabs on Jeffrey. We were in touch with Leicester last season to see what his situation is. He's a quality player.

"We would always look at someone of his calibre."
The Blades are unlikely to be the only side interested in taking Schlupp, who scored six goals while on loan at Brentford the season before last and five times for City during the last campaign.
Several Championship sides, including Crystal Palace have been monitoring the situation.
Schlupp signed a new contract a year ago to keep at City until 2015 and is highly rated by Pearson.
But the City boss knows Schlupp will need competitive games after recovering from knee surgery and a loan could be a good option for all involved.
Meanwhile, Lee Peltier is thrashing out the final details of his move to Leeds and it has been confirmed that Steve Howard, released by City at the end of last season, has joined Hartlepool

“Young Jeffrey Schlupp had a few injuries last season and needs game time to build confidence, at only 19 this i think it will help his progress, got to agree with chappy1884 the lad has the potential to hit double figures.”

“Trouble is, Sheff United is a big club and they will probably walk that League next year. He might like playing for them too much…Then if they get promoted then they will want to buy him…
So I say 'NO!'
If he's going out on loan it should be to some muppet club like Bournemouth or Notts County.”

“Better for him to learn his trade on loan in competitive football, than sit in reserves.”

“Reminds me of Max Gradel's loan at Bournemouth- he came back a first team regular”

“To be fair, I cannot see Schlupp as a novice getting a regular start with us unless injuries start to decimate the forwards. Perhaps he could give us width but he is not really a wide player.
So a loan to a lower league team to build his fitness, goalscoring confidence etc, where he is guaranteed to get a starting place in the line up would be ideal, with the recall clause as necessary.”

“It's always a worry when a young player gets bad injuries early in his career. It's as much confidence as fitness that has to be re-built. A couple of months, playing regularly, at a lower level might be just what Schluppie needs.”

“A loan to Sheffield United would be good for Jeff, for once this team aren't in our league so his talent would not go into helping other teams in our league gain promotion. He would get numerous starts in Sheffield, so i would be pleased if he went on a loan. But not for too long mind you...”

“If we are not going to play him, this loan would be good for him to develope.
Also he would be match fit if we get any injuries, we need to be able to recall him though”

“You and everyone else Danny..
Schlupp will hit double figures this season if he starts for any one else.”
