Two women from Leicester are seriously ill in hospital after drinking an aloe vera juice drink.

Health bosses have now put out a warning to anyone who has bottles of the Gayatri-brand juice not to drink it and to take them to their nearest police station.

They have cleared one city shop of the stock and are investigating whether it is being sold anywhere else in Leicester.

Tests are being carried out on what was inside the bottles.

The Health Protection Agency, Police, Food Standards Agency and the council's Environmental Health Team are investigating.

One of the women collapsed and was admitted to Leicester Royal Infirmary on Thursday night, and the other was admitted on Friday morning.

Their condition is said to be "satisfactory".
